Both of us could feel the tension in the air since we first met. It was palpable, lingering between us as our eyes met. Whoever was introducing us, well, neither of us could really remember. But there we stood, standing in that small apartment, unable to look away from one another. The person introducing us drowned out as we struggled to comprehend what we had just found. It took a few days for the swirling feelings to give way to the truth, but we both knew what it was, we just didn't want to admit it.

Love at first sight. Well, 'love' may be quite the strong word for the two of us. The romantic would call it love, the sexually inclined would call it lust. Whatever it was, it was a basic, animalistic need for one another. Nights spent lying in bed, sometimes denying what it was, at others indulging in the fantasies that sprung to mind. Wondering what excuses could be made to allow for us to see one another again. The lies we could make to both ourselves and to those close to us.

Part of the thrill was the game itself. Knowing we both felt it, both of our eyes had told the other the spark had gone more than just one way. But neither of us had caved just yet. We had texted one another a little, but nothing out of the ordinary. We had lingered when mutual friends brought us together. But no one had taken the leap of faith to truly go after the other...

Until tonight. Tonight was the night where a text was sent, out of nowhere. The die was cast, the wait had grown too much. One of us needed the other and would not stay away any longer. The other could tease and poke small fun...But in the end, that text will be answered. And soon, we'll be in that bed together. Letting out those feelings we had fought so hard to deny.

(Howdy! Well, this is just a fun little idea I had, nothing super serious. Basically, a man and a woman meet, and it is love at first sight (or lust at first sight, but really, what's the difference?) And yet, neither of them wants to be the one to give first. Is there some reason for this? Do one or both of them have a boyfriend/girlfriend? Are they roommates who don't want to risk things getting awkward? Are they step-siblings who understand the new taboo they have found themselves in? There are many possibilities for this...arguably too many!
