have had no insurance, want to sign up

i live in portland, or.

I moved here from nyc a few years ago, and have been primarily a cyclist my whole life.

i had not had a car in over ten years, i bought a 2002 honda oddyssey from my friends who had come from france and they sold me their road trip car when they went back for $600.

I ride my bike to work most of the year, really only drive when I need to get groceries, or when the weather totally sucks.

i have been putting off getting insurance, because i very rarely use the car and only really wanted to use it for going out of town. I also feel like Id ultimately be spending more money on insurance than i paid for the car that I very rarely use.

Recently, i had my bikes stolen :( and have been driving to work every day, I know its finally time to get insurance.

i was trying to find quotes and one of the questions is this :

what was your previous insurance: (none)

have you driven an owned vehicle in the past year uninsured:

I realize my rates will probably be higher if only because i dont really have any history, and i was only going to get liability.

I guess my question is, with all of this in mind, what insurer should i look into, should i get an agent? how will my answer effect my rates?
