I averaged about $0.74 per title
I've purchased several mystery bundles over the years. Last year I started putting the details into a spreadsheet. For my own piece of mind and tracking. Recently I did some consolidation and went back into my purchase history and added all of those as well.
Since 2023 I have purchased 27 mystery bundles. Ranging from 4 games to 30 games per bundle. Excluding all of the duplicates I have picked up, as I did get a lot in the past few months trying my chances at the Steam Deck, I have received 515 unique games. I spent a total of $379.16 on all of those bundles. Bringing it to an average of $0.74 per title.
In actuality, the value for me and my friend was even better than that, as I passed the vast majority of my duplicates off to him. So, someone still took advantage of the key I purchased. I also recorded the full price of all those games and it came up to $8,447. Eventually I'll take the time to see what their all time lowest price was and add that up as well. Regardless, paying less than you would for 1 shot on an arcade machine these days, I feel it has been worth it.
As with all things, it is good in moderation. Unlike my attempts in the past couple months where I bought several packs, I realized it is much more effective getting one or two with the new bundles to reduce the dupe chance even more. But, then as with all games of chance, "you can't win if you don't play".
On another note, I have played so many odd ball games lately that I had never even heard of. Some have been surprisingly fun, some I managed to get through 30 minutes and that will be the last I ever see of that game. So, despite many of the games being unknown, I would do it again.
