looking to take a trip to mexico

i wanna go somewhere down south, looking at maybe booking a resort in mexico. i didnt do much travelling when i was younger so im unfamiliar on which spots are safe and worth going to. i would ideally look into going to a place with beach access, a solid nightlife and a city i can explore and enjoy the culture. Cancun / Playa del Carmen / Tulum were some places i have come across while researching. not looking for specific on certain cities just generally what are the must go to places i can look at. i will be going for spring break in 2027 so i have plenty of time to plan and im looking a a budget of 2000 if that possible.
