Hi! I'm new at this

[Help]

hello! I am a new ferret owner but my roommates owned some over the years. about 6 months ago one of her ferrets passed away and her boy has been on his own. So the other day we went to a ferret rescue with Ace (that's her boy) to get his melatonin implant updated and we met this really sweet girl ferret. her name is Goldie and I fell in love with her.

for context Ace is 6 and Goldie is 5 and 1/2.

Goldie has been at the rescue for 8 months and is more of a people ferret but the rescue says she likes to cuddle up with other ferrets but screams when they enter her space (she's VERY vocal)

yesterday we started doing super supervised meetings between the two for not very long, only separating when there's poop happening.

the issue lies here tho, Goldie is a screamer. as soon as she's unhappy she starts yelling and Ace offers her his butt and tries to bury his head so he's not invading her space with it but he is trying to get his butt up next to her to cuddle and Goldie isn't having it.

it's only day 2 of trying to get them introduced face to face but she loves the blankets with his scent on them actively choosing to sleep in them over her own blankets. is this normal? should I be worried they won't ever connect? Aces sister (the one who passed) wanted nothing to do with him either when they first met but I wasn't around for the introductions and I'm just worried I made the wrong choice to foster her and they hate each other.
