Why are so many people interested in working for the VA?

I’m a baby in this field, but have seen plenty of current or hopeful doctoral students posting that their end goal is to work for the VA.

That seems quite random to me, so I feel as though I’m missing something! What are the major appeals? I assume government money/stability may factor in.
