uBPD mother told me I “need to take better care of her”
Haven’t posted in probably over a year, but the ridiculousness of this keeps playing over and over in my head lol
At eastern dinner tonight she did the thing where she acts upset but won’t tell you what’s wrong unless you ask her multiple times. Then proceeded to tell me that I don’t text her enough, I don’t check up on her enough and that she needs me to take better care of her. I’ve been so over this since I had a bit of a breakthrough of what our relationship really is 5ish years ago - I told her I don’t like how it sounds like she’s trying to guilt me. Also reminded her I’ve been very clear in communicating to her how rough the last few months have been for me - very sick twice, mental health in the toilet (had a complete mental breakdown end of January) and ended up actually deferring one of my exams (I’m 27 and in med school). Naturally she didn’t address any of that and threw her hands up and basically said “god I was just trying to be honest with you”
I know myself and the dynamic enough to know how ridiculous this all is. But I still can’t get over the audacity of telling me I need to take care of her (btw, no health conditions, owns her home, great job - aka nothing wrong that would require a caretaker), especially considering I basically already was doing this for the first 22 years of my life.
P.s. Also forgot, she called me at 10 to 5pm getting mad at me for not being there yet. I was confused because we had said dinner was at 5. She grumbled about how that doesn’t mean I only have to get there for 5 (only me, her and my brother btw). My brother and I also clocked her pretending to go upstairs at one point so she could try and eavesdrop to see if we said anything about her lol
