I'm wondering if schizotypal may apply to me?
Hi everyone. Recently I've been thinking a lot about how I am vs most other people. Ive always felt alien, not just socially awkward but entirely different to most people. I am diagnosed Audhd with high emotional and executive dysfunction, but i just feel like its not the whole picture and that it misses key features about me.
Some things that stand out to me are, my very selective amount of meaningful social connections throughout my life, my distrust of most people and social interactions, grandiose thinking and intense episodes of it, intense and often extreme thoughts, irregular sleep and episodes of despair. I'm definitely a very paranoid person and am extremely philosophical and metaphorical.
I spend most of my days inside doing various things at home and on my computer. I do go out but really only for specific things and working when I need extra money. I can talk to people, but I don't like to at all and I try to keep it strictly business when in person with strangers. I am In school and working on an associates of arts which I'm almost done with with emphasis on psychology and philosophy but I do it all online now. I tried to do in person a few semesters but I just made a fool of my self to a lot of people and stopped attending. It really is hard for me to participate in the conversational structures of schools. I often interpret neutral or even positive interactions as threat trying to uphold a mask. Its always been this way with school, I did not do well in middle school and high school and was withdrawn then as well. Currently a lot of my time is spent on trying to maintain minimal external necessity's followed with thinking and day dreaming all day as well as hobbies and talking to some people close to me. I do enjoy my connections but i still often feel somewhat alien and alone in areas I really wish I wasn't.
One thing that stops me from applying the label is that I don't think I'd necessarily consider my episodes of intense emotions or thought delusional. They are grounded in some sort of external goal even if subconscious and my reasoning is grounded with reality checking still, such as empiric evidence or philosophical frameworks. However I will often feel I cant conclude with absolute certainty I am not connect to a deeper meaning, its kind of skepticism mixed with fantasy I don't really express this ever, though there where periods in the past it surfaced as a ridged ego.
Ive also never really hallucinated, I have had some auditory ones, but like very few and not recently at all. I do see details move around when i focus on things though. Like walls and carpets, they start to warp all weird the more I pay attention. I am in control of that though and can just not look to hard. I do have perceptual distortions but its really just feeling odd about feelings or feeling like my vision changed somewhat. I also have very vivid dreams and I can remember them to great detail as well as connect them to my actual desires and concerns, they are usually very explicit about it and not horrible to interpret.
Sorry about the wall, I hope people read this. Like I said I'm very intense so I tend to overshare or type a lot. I am newer to this community. I have watched Yamus videos for awhile but I've only recently began to think maybe I'm schizotypal I was really scared of the idea before and often dismissed it but now that I have been considering it I'm a little unsure. I would be interested in pursuing an evaluation but its very hard to find an available doctor and often you have to sit in a cold room in a gown for hours.... in the middle of the night... with no idea when you can be seen... so I thought id start here first lol! If it seems worth a shot Ill look into a evaluation.
