Nobody talks about the real cost of lifestyle inflation. Here's the math that scared me straight.
You get a raise. You upgrade your phone. You eat out more. You move to a better apartment.
This is lifestyle inflation — and it silently kills wealth building.
Real example:
- Monthly raise: ₱5,000
- New phone installment: ₱1,500/month
- Eating out upgrade: ₱2,000/month
- Higher rent: ₱3,000/month
Net result: You're now ₱1,500 WORSE off than before the raise.
The trap isn't earning less. It's spending faster than you earn.
Rule I follow: For every raise, 80% goes to savings/investment. Only 20% gets to upgrade my lifestyle.
Has lifestyle inflation hit you before? How did you catch it?
