They stopped depicting villains as selfish and started depicting them as revolutionaries

When I was a child I read Grimm's fairytales, in which villains were portrayed as either feminine selfish manipulators (narcissistic) or masculine selfish psychopaths (psychopathic) or weak neurotic people of either sex, and there wasn't much emphasis beyond that.

Essentially, villainy reflected what is actually in the real world quite well. Most people are evil because they're selfish.

Nowadays I've noticed that all villains seem to have revolutionary traits, like Lucifer. This ranges from Dostoevsky, to Disney, to Marvel. Villains are characters that have a gripe with society, were typically deeply traumatized in the past, and their exercise of evil is challenging the status quo and trying to assert their will to change the world, typically for some humanitarian cause which is distorted. They're often portrayed as effeminate/gay, educated/intelligent, ideologically motivated, goal oriented, and rebellious.

The heros defend the status quo and represent its values, and tend to also be quite anti-intellectual. You almost always find them working with the government, especially the united states government.

This seems like propaganda to me... I think it's not entirely intentional since this trope spans all the way back to the bible and in way lucifer is depicted, but something is very fishy, and I wonder how much is actually intentional, given that people like Epstein and his associates run the media (not strictly Jewish people to be clear, just that type of person) and have been quite explicit in their intention to control public perceptions in a very nuanced way.
