After 3 months, lots of money, lots of parts returns and exchanges, consistent strings of obscenities, head scratching, screaming at ChatGPT, improvising, adapting, and overcoming- The Red Bull Dakar Unimog is done. The body, rear body mounting bracket, and the 45° transmission mounted ESC mounting plate were 3D printed, the chassis is an Axial SCX10 iii Basecamp Builders Kit, the powerplant is from an Axial Ryft, and the tires are Hyrax 1.9 XL. The chassis lights and motor fan are powered directly from the battery using a JST jumper to a 6V BEC, strung to a 6 port Servo hub. A magnetic breakaway servo cable runs from the chassis hub to the body's 6 port hub, powering the body lights. And, as you can see, I managed to mess up 2 of the tail lights (🤦🤬). She weighs in at a little over 10lbs, and has a very generous amount of speed. I definitely wanted to scrap this build and walk away a few times, especially after I got to the body and chassis mounting, but, I'm glad I didn't. I didn't shoot for perfection, it has glue globs, paint runs, and other visible errors, but I built this to beat the shit out of it. If the body dies, it dies, and I opt for something else- what matters is I had a vision, and I fkn did it. I'm happy. Hope y'all enjoy it!

And Just Like That... It's Done!
