Hello Everyone! Today we’re doing a quick technical breakdown of my latest YouTube video involving an iPhone 12 with a severe diagonal impact. This case is pretty straightforward, but there are a few key details I want to highlight.

When a board takes a diagonal hit like this, the "L-shaped" design of the iPhone 12 logic board becomes its biggest weakness. The bend usually leads to a crack in the PCB layers. In this state, a full board swap is the only reliable way to get the data.

One thing I love about working on the 12 series for data recovery:

1. **No Sandwich Soldering Required:** Unlike some other models, the NFC chip on the iPhone 12 is located on the top board. This means I don't even need to re-solder sandwich together to get the device to accept the passcode. I just swap the top board, connect a screen, battery and a charging port, and we’re in.
2. **No Boot Loops:** On the 12 series, you can leave the upper flex (ALS and Flood Sensor) disconnected. The board won't trigger the 3-minute thermal restart/panic full-log cycle like some newer models do.

If the client has **Stolen Device Protection** enabled, I can’t just trust a new computer to pull an iTunes backup. In these cases, I need to trigger an iCloud backup instead. To get a fast, stable connection without relying on potentially flaky Wi-Fi, I use a **Lightning-to-Ethernet adapter**. It’s a lifesaver for pushing large amounts of data to the cloud when the USB data lines are restricted. In that case you can still use wireless charger to keep you battery up during connected ethernet via lightning port.

Short, simple, and successful. Data recovered!
