Droids don’t like being called by their nicknames

I’m watching season 1 episode 9 of clone wars right now. One of the troopers said you “you keep watching here 27”. Where the droid then yells and he responds by saying “okay 327-T”. The other trooper then reminds him quote “you know droids never like to be called by their nicknames”. This makes me wonder if R2-D2 has any problem with being called R2 throughout the entirety of Star Wars. This applies to any droids being called by their nicknames??
