Tried to start my vehicle out of timing

As the title suggests I started my D21 V6 today with the distrubtor not in the right spot and I'm assuming it was out of timing. Does this mean I'm completely out of luck and it damaged the internals? Should I try to get this guy next door set the timing tomorrow and try again? Complete engine rebuild? What's next for me to do to try and get this vehicle running again?
