Chicago style citations: Newspapers, URLs, and Bibliography?
I've written a book for an academic press that will come out in hardcopy (not an e-book). It has endnotes and a bibliography. (Before you ask, yes, I'm waiting for a response from my publisher but I'm under a deadline so I thought I'd check here too). I am used to using another citation format entirely and am really struggling here even though I've read the Chicago manual multiple times, At the moment, the Biblopgraphy is so long and duplicative of the endnotes, and I'm trying to figure out what I can cut. 1: It is correct that newspaper articles should only be cited in the endnotes for each chapter, but not in the bibliography because they are "ephemeral" (14.96)? Does the same thing apply to magazine articles? 2a. If that is correct, do I include the URL in the endnotes for these newspapers and magazine articles, even if the citation is otherwise complete? 2b. If I need to include citations to newspaper articles in both endnotes and the bibliography (and I hope not because it is so long and repetitive), do I leave the URL in the endnotes only and omit the URL from the Bibliography? 3. When I cite to an article or blog post from a website, including to articles and links from large non-profit websites, do I only include the citations in the notes and not in the Bibliography? (14.104)? Any help is much appreciated!
