Staying for Negotiations vs. Exploring New Opportunities
Hi AccountingPH Community,
I’ve been a long-time reader here and am now seeking some perspective on my own situation.
I have been with my current firm(one of the big4) for quite a while, and it has been a rewarding experience with a great team. However, I’ve recently realized that the firm’s trajectory no longer aligns with my long-term goals.
Most notably, I recently learned that a new hire is receiving a significantly higher salary than mine(the rank of the said employee is lower than mine). While management has opened negotiations for a market adjustment, nothing is guaranteed (there are conditions that needs to be fulfilled). This has led me to realize I may have been undervalued for some time and with the current trend in our economy this is not sustainable for me and my dependents.
Should I wait to see if these negotiations materialize, or is it time to start exploring opportunities elsewhere? I’d love to hear from anyone who has navigated a similar "wait-and-see" situation. Any inputs will be very appreciated.
