Fidji Simo medical leave - very senior women and health issues

Inspired by Fidji Simo, CEO of Applications at OpenAI. She recently announced she would go on medical leave for POTS and posted on X that she hopes this will raise awareness for chronic illnesses like POTS, Long Covid, and MECFS.

For women in very senior roles who have faced health issues, what was your experience? Did you try to work through it or get accommodations/support? Were you able to open up to your employer? Were you pushed out or otherwise penalized? Did you get more flexibility because of your seniority?
