Smite—two small beginner questions

1. Did everyone abandon smite 1 and jump to smite 2? Do you have trouble matchmaking on smite 1? I am considering playing from Australia.

2. Who are the closest Gods to Poppy and Shen from League of Legends?

Thanks!
