Do smaller fibroids degenerate

I’ve recently had an ultrasound identifying a 2.5-3cm “likely fibroid” with a cystic/degenerating centre. I’ve gone through the googling cycle and learning all about sarcomas whilst waiting for MRI.

I’m looking for reassurance and wondering whether anyone has experience of smaller fibroids having that degenerating centre? As I keep reading it often happens with blood supply cut off when they’re growing but to me the size of mine doesn’t seem that big!
