Built a free tool for buying/analysing Pokémon card lots, looking for honest feedback from people who actually buy and sell singles
Hey everyone,
I've been working on a free web tool called LotBounty (lotbounty.com) and I've got to a point where I really need feedback from people who actually do this, not just people I know.
What it is:
It has two parts.
Analyze Mode is for when you're looking at a lot and trying to figure out if the price makes sense. You put in your cards, quantities, conditions, what you paid or are thinking of paying, and your estimated resale prices. It works out your projected profit per card, accounts for eBay fees, and gives you a summary of the whole lot. Basically just trying to answer "is this actually worth it at this price" before you commit.
Buy Mode is more for vendors at shows who are looking at a lot and trying to figure out what they want to pay for it. The idea is to cut down on the back and forth of looking up comps on one app, jumping to your calculator, trying to keep a running total in your head while someone's standing across the table from you. You search a card name, it pulls up the right card with set and rarity so you're both looking at the same thing, you put in quantity and condition, and it does the math as you go. By the time you've gone through the lot you've got a number you can actually stand behind.
It also saves your sessions so you can go back and look at deals you've done, which is handy if you want to track what you've been buying or just remember what you paid for something down the line.
What I'm hoping to find out:
- Would you actually use something like this at a show or when going through a bulk lot?
- Does the fee model reflect how you actually think about deals?
- What's missing, or what would make you use this over a spreadsheet or just doing it in your head?
- Is Buy Mode actually fast enough to be useful mid-negotiation at a table?
A few things worth knowing: it's completely free, no account needed, and we're genuinely not collecting any data. No tracking, nothing stored, we just want to know if the tool is useful.
If you vend at card shows I'd especially love to hear from you. Buy Mode was designed with that in mind but I've never actually put it in front of someone at a real table so I honestly don't know how well it holds up under those conditions. If you're willing to try it at your next show and let me know what worked and what didn't, that would mean a lot.
Happy to take any feedback, including "this doesn't solve a problem I have" or "I already do this with X". Let me know what you think and happy investing!!!
