Is there even any point sticking around upon reaching such a fail state?
On the verge of turning 30 and I have nothing going for me. No friends, miserable and worthless dead-end job, no experience in a real job, and I just wasted the past 2 years of my life getting a qualification that I had hoped would allow me to finally get a real job, but that actually carries no value in the job market. I've watched my 20s fly past with nothing happening. I evidently lack whatever typically common quality it takes to make life feel as though it's worth living. Part of what has kept me going for so long are those hopeful comments that you see like "it's never worth it, it will get better". But lately, I've started to reckon with the sobering thought that these are just polite, empty platitudes and that, for some of us, it might really just be "over". Shit, if I died tomorrow, nobody would even realise until a few months later when the landlord comes knocking for unpaid rent. What actually is the point of sticking around when you've reached this state?
