Was this a good internship experience or no?
Internship at tech team at stat board. Chill environment, friendly stuff.
Normally I work at my own pace, update documentation and drop my direct report updates, maybe get some brief questions and some alternative suggestions which I will work toward.
Then last week had a chat with tech lead (he was the one who interviewed me for this internship), question he ask was did you ship code for us to use? I was a bit confused because, I was never instructed to, nor was I really privy to what the team needed help with. Then I guess he was like, maybe we can wrap up your internship earlier ok, just clean up the work you have and we'll take over, you can focus on your job hunt.
From the beginning I already ask what are the expectations and goals I should work toward. The only reply is "we have no expectations for interns". I did get some ad-hoc work done which was somewhat challenging, not kinda not the stuff I wanted to do. I've been giving updates and stuff lah, not exactly top of the mill work, was also killing my time with final year stuff. but I feel like I never ever received proper in depth feedback. I know it's the nature of some gov internships to have virtually nothing to do and I am still on friendly terms, but I'm kinda dk how to feel about this internship.
