Every time I do the pigeon pose it destroys my sleep that night.
The first time this happened was a few weeks ago. I had read she saw on tiktok that it's a very powerful pose to release so I tried it out. Just maybe 2-3 minutes at most.
That night at 3am I got woken to a flood of emotions, thoughts and memories and it took me an hour to calm down enough to go back to sleep. They were memories I honestly didn't even think were that relevant to my life.
Yesterday I was feeling very much not myself. Body online but not brain so I jumped on the chance to go to the gym and do an intense HIIT workout. Usually these days I stick to mostly walking and moderate elliptical.
Felt great during. Still very amazed that after 4 years I still see progress in stamina and endurance.
When I came home I did some stretching as I was very tired. Incorporated the pigeon pose. The sensations la were like one eye slightly teared up which is just strange and it felt as if I was suppressing some emotion and it wouldn't come up.
Literally 9 hours later 2:50 I get woken up and my anxiety levels are a 10/10. heart rate elevated, thoughts related to so much shame and feeling like a failure. This lasted a good 20 minutes before I turned on some Netflix on my phone to distract me.
I don't know how to incorporate this so that I have proper release but also so that I process through the emotions and they don't hit me in the middle of the night and ruin my sleep.
