Planning our first USA road trip in June — Yellowstone → Grand Teton → Zion → Bryce → Grand Canyon in 10 days. Is this doable or too rushed?
Hey everyone! Brazilian couple here planning our first US road trip in June 2026. We've been planning this for months and would love some honest feedback from people who've actually done these parks.
Our itinerary:
- Jun 3: Fly Home→ NYC (arrive Jun 4)
- Jun 4–5: New York City
- Jun 6: Fly NYC → Pittsburgh — Morgan Wallen concert at Acrisure Stadium
- Jun 7: Fly PIT → Bozeman (BZN), arrive 10:22am — pick up rental car, head straight into Yellowstone via North Entrance (Gardiner). Lamar Valley afternoon
- Jun 8: Yellowstone — Mammoth Hot Springs + Norris Geyser Basin
- Jun 9: Yellowstone — Grand Prismatic Spring + Old Faithful + Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone - Drive to Jackson, WY
- Jun 10: Grand Teton — Mormon Row at sunrise + Jenny Lake + Cascade Canyon
- Jun 11: Jackson → drive south → Bear Lake → Cedar City (~6h total with stops)
- Jun 12: Cedar Breaks NM → Zion NP (arrive afternoon)
- Jun 13: Zion full day — The Narrows + Emerald Pools
- Jun 14: Bryce Canyon sunrise + Queens Garden Trail → drive to Page, AZ (Horseshoe Bend sunset)
- Jun 15: Upper Antelope Canyon → Grand Canyon South Rim sunset
- Jun 16: Grand Canyon morning → drive to Las Vegas (~4h)
- Jun 17 00:37: Fly LAS → home
Staying in Gardiner, MT (Travelodge) for Yellowstone nights. One-way rental BZN → LAS.
Our concerns:
- June crowds — we know it's peak season. Is arriving at Grand Prismatic by 7am enough to beat the parking rush? Same question for Zion shuttles — is 6am at the visitor center realistic?
- Day 11 (Jackson → Cedar City) — this is our most brutal drive day (~6h + stops after 3 intense park days). Worth it to keep Bear Lake and Cedar Breaks, or should we cut them and go straight to Zion to arrive rested?
- Zion in one full day — is Narrows + Emerald Pools + possibly Angels Landing permit realistic in a single day or should we cut one?
- Grand Teton in one day — we know it's tight. Mormon Row at sunrise (5am) → Jenny Lake → Cascade Canyon. Are we missing anything critical by only having one day?
- General vibe check — does this feel too rushed overall? We're active travelers, early risers, not into nightlife. We'd rather hike 15km than sit in a restaurant. But we're also coming from Brazil so jet lag is a factor the first few days.
Any advice from people who've done this route in June would be hugely appreciated. Especially locals or frequent visitors to these parks!
Thanks 🙏
