SkyLark Honey Gesha Dialing In
Nothing could prepare me for how fine I would need to go. I kept reducing the grind size by 2-3 increments and kept getting gusher after gusher. I went through 4 shots just to get into the ballpark and the 5th one could still use improvement.
Most beans I grind in the 16-18 range on my Niche Zero, I'm currently at 10 and considering going even lower to get more body. I'm getting close to Turkish grind at this point.
My final shot today was 42 seconds and tasted thin and a bit grassy. Maybe it needs a bit more resting time, it's had about 3 weeks I think. I guess this is my first truly light roast and it's proving a challenge to get to grips with.
Anyone else relate? Should I run crying back to my medium roasts and leave the light stuff for pourover? I've had success with geisha before (from Horsham), but in hindsight that must have been roasted a bit darker.
