“Journalist Transitioning Into Brand Management — Any Openings or Advice From Agency folks?”

AskDelhi

Hey brand managers and HR folks at marketing agencies — looking for advice (and maybe an opportunity) 👋

I have a background in journalism — think storytelling, research, deadline-driven writing, interviewing sources, and distilling complex topics into clear, compelling narratives. Over time I’ve realized these skills translate really naturally into brand management: crafting brand voice, developing messaging strategy, and communicating a brand’s story consistently across channels.

I’m now actively looking to make the transition into brand management, ideally within a marketing agency environment, and I’d love to connect with people in this space.

A few questions for anyone willing to share:

∙	Are there any openings at your agency for brand managers or brand strategists — especially roles open to candidates coming from a media/journalism background?

∙	What skills or experience do hiring managers prioritize when evaluating non-traditional candidates for brand roles?

∙	Is there anyone here who’d be willing to have a quick chat or point me in the right direction?

Any advice, referrals, or even just a “here’s what worked for me” would mean a lot. Happy to share more about my background in the comments or via DM. Thanks in advance! 🙏
