I built a gamified financial literacy app. Google denied my production request. Looking for closed testers who want to break it.

Educational

Here’s the situation.

I’ve spent the last several months building FinancifyMe, a mobile app that teaches financial literacy through interactive games. It’s not a course platform, or a video library. It’s a game-based learning system where you actually play your way through concepts like stock markets, trading mechanics, fundamental analysis, technical analysis, portfolio strategy, and valuation, suitable for everyone from absolute beginners to advanced traders.

The app is built, the content is written, and the game engine works. Google Play, however, has denied my production release request. New developer accounts need to go through a closed testing phase—with over 20+ testers, using the app for 14 days minimum—before they’ll even consider letting you go live.

So here I am, asking for your help.

What the app actually does

Right now, FinancifyMe is structured around 9 learning modules with over 150 levels, progressing from “What is the Stock Market” all the way to “Valuation Metrics & Earnings.” Each level uses a mix of game types, ranging from MCQs, match-the-pair, fill-in-the-blank, swipe, and tap, to timeline sequencing, portfolio simulations, and scenario-based decisions later on. In the app, you earn XP, unlock levels, collect badges, and track your progress. There’s also a mascot called Gyan who walks you through the journey.

The idea is simple: most people don’t learn finance because it’s taught badly. Swamped with dense textbooks, jargon-heavy courses, or oversimplified Instagram reels and long youtube explainer videos, most people give up very soon. I wanted to build something in between which is structured enough to actually teach you something, but engaging enough that you don’t drop off after a day or two.

Currently, the content covers:

·        Stock market basics: what exchanges are, how orders work, what brokers do

·        Trading mechanics: order types, price discovery, execution

·        Investing and strategy: risk management, diversification, portfolio construction

·        Global markets and exchanges

·        Fundamental analysis: reading financial statements, understanding ratios

·        Technical analysis: charts, patterns, indicators

·        Hedging and advanced strategies: ETFs, derivatives basics

·        Valuation: P/E, P/B, earnings analysis, spotting value traps

It’s built with Flutter, runs on Android, and uses Firebase on the backend.

What I need from you

If you’re interested in testing, here’s what I’d ask:

1. DM me your email address.

I’ll add you to the closed testing group on Google Play. You’ll get a link to install the app.

2. Use it for at least 10–15 minutes every day.

Play through a few levels. Try different modules. See if the games make sense, if the content is clear, if anything feels broken or confusing.

3. Try to break it.

Seriously. Tap things you’re not supposed to tap. Go back and forth between screens. Kill the app mid-game and reopen it. Log out and log back in. Switch between modules. I want to know where it fails, not where it works.

4. Tell me what you think.

You can submit feedback through:

·        The in-app feedback option

·        A reply to the testing invitation email

·        Or just DM me here on Reddit

I’m not looking for polite encouragement. I’m looking for honest, specific feedback—what’s confusing, what’s broken, what’s missing, what’s annoying. The kind of feedback that actually helps me make this better.

Keep the app installed for 14 days.

That’s the Google requirement. You don’t have to use it every day—just don’t uninstall it during the testing window.

Things to specifically test:

·        Sign-up and login flow (email, phone, or Google Sign-In)

·        Game mechanics across different game types—do they all work smoothly?

·        Progress saving—does your XP and level progress persist correctly?

·        Navigation—can you move between modules and levels without getting lost?

·        Content accuracy—if you know finance, flag anything that’s wrong or misleading

·        Performance—any lag, crashes, freezes, or weird behaviour?

·        The overall experience—does it feel like something you’d actually come back to?

A bit about where this is headed

I’ve been a financial journalist for the last six-plus years—covering financial markets, economic policy, and corporate developments across Reuters, Business Standard, Mint, Business Today, and Outlook Business. I also write independently on Substack about economic policy and systemic risks. FinancifyMe comes from that background—from years of watching how poorly financial concepts are communicated to the people who need them most.

This is a solo build right now. I’ve done the product design, content writing, game design, and development, with some help as well. The app is functional and the content library is substantial, but there’s a lot more I want to do—more modules, more game types, localisation, community features, and eventually a version tailored for the Indian market specifically.

I’m actively exploring ways to scale this—whether that’s through an accelerator programme, early-stage funding, or the right partnership. If you know of opportunities or want to have that conversation, my DMs are open.

But first things first. I need testers. I need feedback. And I need to get past Google’s gate.

If any of this sounds interesting, drop me a DM with your email. I’ll get you set up.

Thanks for reading this far.
