I was asked to create a pattern for a small business. Now what?
It's an app for crafts. I trust the company, I know relatives of the person who reached out and they've been vouched for. They want me to make a pattern of their logo. There's my first question, how much should I charge for that? It's not a super complicated logo, but getting the right shape will be some trial and error. There's also supplies. I use chenille yarn, and that sells for about $8 in my country. I'll need one main color and two secondary colors. I'd probably be able to make about 2-3 mid sized plushies from that.
Then, there's distribution. This is not an established company yet. So, should I sell them the pattern and all the rights to it? Or should I be the person selling the pattern and get income for it? what would I charge for selling the pattern to them?
I've never done anything like this before, so I don't even know where to start.
Tldr: how much to charge for making a pattern for a company and potentially selling it to them?
