Cyclops 1987 inspired Resident Evil?

Been watching this awesome japanese hidden gem from 1987 and I am sure it must have inspired the creators of Resident Evil. Especially the creature design of Nemesis and the general settings of hidden experiments and mutation. If you don't know it give this movie a go. It's only about 50 minutes.

You can watch it on YouTube with English subtiles. the finale of this movie is an absolute Body Horror gem. What do you think of this movie and what similar movies would you recommend ?
