Can landing pages actually rank on Google, or is SEO only meant for blog content? I’ve seen mixed opinions, curious what’s working right now.

I used to believe landing pages don’t rank. Like at all. Everywhere you look, people say:

Landing pages are for conversions, blogs are for SEO

So for a long time, I kept them completely separate. Blogs for traffic, landing pages for ads. But then I tried something different mostly out of frustration.

I had a few landing pages that were converting okay from paid traffic but I didn’t want to keep relying on ads forever. So I thought, what if I try to rank these pages organically?

Didn’t expect much, honestly.

At first, nothing happened. zero movement but after tweaking a few things, I started seeing impressions then clicks and eventually, actual rankings.

Here’s what actually made the difference for me:

1. I stopped treating the landing page like a 'sales only' page

Earlier, my pages were super aggressive:

  1. Big claims
  2. CTA everywhere in page
  3. Very little actual information

Google didn’t love that.

So I softened it a bit:

  1. Added real explanations
  2. Included helpful FAQs
  3. Wrote like I’m helping, not just selling

2. I targeted very specific keywords (not broad ones)

Instead of going after:

landing page builder (too competitive)

I focused on:

  • AI landing page builder for coaches
  • simple funnel builder for beginners

Less volume but way more relevant.

3. I improved structure (this was underrated)

I made sure:

  • One clear H1 ( main topic)
  • Proper subheadings H2, H3 and more (not random bold text)
  • Clean sections that actually make sense

The sounds was basic, but it helped for me.

4. Internal linking helped more than I expected

Once I connected my blog content to these landing pages, things started moving faster, not in a crazy way but enough to notice.

5. Testing became the real game

This was the biggest shift.

Earlier, making changes was slow because everything was spread across different tools. Later, I switched to a more simplified setup mainly so I could:

  • Adjust page content quickly
  • Test different versions
  • Track what’s actually converting

Not saying the tool ranks your pages but it made experimenting way easier, which is what actually led to results.

If I’m being honest, landing page SEO is not about hacking Google.

It’s more like:

👉 Make the page useful enough to rank

👉 Keep it focused enough to convert

That balance is what worked for me in 2026.
