Social WiFi Plan
I’m going on my first cruise and I’m planning to book a cat sitter through the Rover app while I’m away. I’m trying to figure out how much internet access I’ll actually have on the ship. If I purchase the cruise line’s social Wi-Fi plan, will that be enough for me to check the daily updates from my sitter in the Rover app? I know the social plan usually allows access to certain messaging and social media apps, but I’m not sure whether Rover counts as one of those or if it would be blocked.
Another thing I’m wondering about is my home security cameras. I have cameras set up so I can check on my cat and make sure everything at home looks normal. If I’m connected to the ship’s social Wi-Fi plan, would I still be able to open my security camera app and view the live camera feed, or would that require the full internet plan instead?
Since this is my first cruise, I’m trying to decide whether the cheaper social Wi-Fi package will be enough or if it would be safer to upgrade to the regular or premium Wi-Fi plan. Being able to stay in touch with my cat sitter and occasionally check my cameras would give me peace of mind while I’m away.
If anyone has cruised before and used Rover or checked their home cameras from the ship’s Wi-Fi, I’d love to know what worked for you and which Wi-Fi plan you ended up needing.
