Questions about the Kent marriage mod

The mod author doesn't seem to answer questions, so I'm hoping people here can!

Does the mod work mid-playthrough?

It says it's not compatible with any mods that change sprites and portraits. I use the "Portrait Accurate NPC Sprites" mod, and it's not something I'm willing to stop using. Does it really not work? Is there a way I can edit the code to work alongside it?
