i wanna know people's general opinion on this

how you guys feel about dnd? i'm somewhat new to the hobby (about a year in) and i've found i really don't care much for it. i've also seen a lot stuff on youtube where everyone who doesn't exclusively play dnd says something along the line of "it's all right but not my first choice... ugh" so i wanna know how people feel. are the mechanics good? the large amount of homebrew? the community?
