I 23M broke 39 days of no contact with mz ex 21F— good sign she replied fast? Invite for coffee next?
Me (23M) and my ex (21F) were in a short but fast-developing relationship lasting about 2.5 months total (1.5 months dating, 1 month officially together). Despite the short time, things moved quickly and felt very strong emotionally.
The breakup itself was clean. She told me I was a “perfect boyfriend” and that the main reason for ending things was that she wasn’t ready for a relationship yet. She had come out of a manipulative/toxic relationship about 6 months before meeting me and said she needed more time to process that.
There were no fights, no bad blood, and we ended on respectful terms. I also didn’t chase her after the breakup.
We’ve been in no contact for 39 days.
Today I decided to send something light and non-pressured:
“Hey, I saw something that reminded me of you — how are you?”
She replied within 3 minutes:
“I’m good, and you?”
I responded:
“I’m good, just hiking.”
She liked the message and the conversation ended there.
I'm trying not to overinterpret, but the quick reply and positive tone felt like a good sign after 39 days of no contact.
My goal isn’t to rush back into a relationship, but I would like to slowly rebuild contact and potentially invite her for a casual coffee.
Would it be better to:
- Wait a few days and message again?
- Invite her for coffee soon?
- Continue slow/light conversation first?
Curious how others would interpret her response and what the best next step would be.
