The few minutes after a hard interaction might be worth paying attention to
I have been noticing something small lately.
When a difficult conversation ends, there is a brief window. Maybe five minutes. Maybe ten. Before the mind moves on to the next thing, the next task, the next distraction.
In that window, something is still moving. The body is still reacting. The thoughts have not settled. There is a kind of openness.
I used to move through that window without noticing it. I would just check my phone or make tea or start doing something else.
I am not sure I used to know it existed.
There is something different about pausing in that window instead of filling it. Not to reflect or process deeply. Just to notice that something happened. To let the body catch up.
It is a small thing. But I have found it changes how the rest of the evening feels.
Has anyone else started paying attention to that specific window, the few minutes after something difficult?
I eventually built a small tool around exactly this, if anyone is curious.
