Husband let the 6 and 3 year old have their full bags of candy. Now I get to deal with the tantrums and meltdowns.
We work opposite schedules. We both feel like single parents during the week. It fucking sucks.
Got home late last night and didn’t notice the candy everywhere.
My kids already fucking suck in the morning. They’re energetic monsters, moody, literally all over my body. I don’t have time to take a shit and brush my teeth before they’re whinging and demanding breakfast, even though the routine hasn’t changed since the day they were born. We get up, wash our face and brush teeth, we go potty and change diapers, then we get breakfast made. They act like they go to bed starving every single day. It baffles me.
Battle the morning whinging with patience and kindness, ask for space for my body and privacy to use the restroom. (I cannot get up before them to have a decompressed morning, they hear me and wake up, doesn’t matter how early I get up or how late they went to bed).
Get everyone out of the kitchen with breakfast and my daughter is munching on something. She’s got a bunch of smarties, and a fist full of smarty tubes in her other hand. Look around the living room and there’s open candy, jelly beans, wrappers everywhere. They race in and grab their bags so I tell them no, we know we put the candy in the candy bin and have some treats after meals, as a reward, and as a potty treat. I do not deny my kids sugar or candy, I just want it to be thoughtful and not just on tap.
So now I have a six year old and a three year old absolutely losing their shit, refusing to eat breakfast, and the whole morning is fucked.
While I’m on my bitch fit it’s also snowing again and I’m about to start my period. And my kitchen sink is leaking and I made it worse poking around. Fuck all this. And fuck my husband. (I love him so much, we work so hard and they were rambunctious from Easter and he cashed out when they did so I get how he missed it)
