I’m 28M and I don’t think I should get married yet. Maybe I’m the problem.
I’m 28M, and a lot of people around me are either getting married or planning to.
And I just don’t feel ready at all.
It’s not even about money or finding the right person. It’s more basic than that. I don’t feel like I’m even capable of handling my own life properly, so how am I supposed to take responsibility for someone else?
I struggle with simple things. My habits are not consistent. My emotions are not stable. Some days I feel like I can’t even manage myself, and then I think about marriage and it just feels wrong. I feel like a teenager inside, who still needs support and guidance.
I already feel like a burden to myself. How am I going to take care of another person?
And honestly, if I start earning well, I would rather spend that money on myself first. Fix my health, fix my lifestyle, work on things I’ve been ignoring, maybe even fulfill some of my own dreams before I think about sharing my life with someone else.
That might sound selfish, but right now it feels more honest than pretending I’m ready.
But then I look around and see people my age moving ahead. Getting married, settling down, doing what everyone expects. And I feel like I’m far behind.
Maybe I am.
Or maybe I’m just being honest about something most people don’t admit.
I don’t know if this way of thinking is right or stupid. But forcing myself into marriage right now feels like a bad decision.
Has anyone else felt like this?
