How did historical nations that had fancy uniforms in the 1700s-1800s be able to afford the uniforms of each soldier in wars?
This is a stupid question and I expect downvotes but as far as I know, Accurate uniforms can be expensive in reenactment shops and tailors. There were hundreds of thousands of soldiers that were needed to be supplied not only with uniforms but with the guns, ammunition, equipment, and rations in the middle of a war which seems unnaturally expensive in a time where trade routes are being blockaded and raided by rival nations. The uniforms for the privates are essentially very fashioned with the tall shakos and tricornes to stand respected and feared on the field and with the sheer scale of the troops that was sent to war, isn't it a bit of a thorn in the national treasury?
