Is $5000 in federal tax normal for a 1099 contractor?

I made about $30,000 and took the standard deduction of $15,750. I went to a college with a free tax filing program because I suck at doing this kind of thing on my own. A student did my taxes and the professor checked it and said it was good but my mom thinks it sounds like too much, so I’m wondering if I should get a professional to look it over again and see if they missed something.
