Why did Herman try to have Money killed in the drive-by (Shotgun tells money that this is the case, and says that both Shotgun and Herman conspired to have him killed)

Also why does Redwood kill the prison guard? Is it just for an unpsecified reason or because the beast says 'because we have to show them that we run the show'
