Bad smells from new wiring/cables/plastic smells
I bought a new electric kettle recently, the kind in which apart from water, eggs, veggies can also be steamed/boiled. I bought an expensive one from a well known brand so not some cheaply poorly made stuff or so I thought. Just to clarify, it's not a burning smell or anything and was there even when I just got the kettle out of the box and the smell is still there, now that it's lying outside and I have used it too.
The kettle itself is ok but the kettle wire/cable has such a nasty smell and so does the plug but to a lesser extent. Recently I had bought a cheap remote control as two of the buttons on my tv remote do not work and that was cheap so I guess i could understand they used the cheapest plastic and it smelled ghastly so I returned it. This wasn't the case with my original tv remote, it's plastic never had a smell even when new.
And I have an electric kettle which can only boil water, bought from another old and reliable brand at a very high price back in 2023 and the plastic cable and plug from that one did not smell at all even when it was new.
Does anyone else experience issues with smells from new plastic or know anything about it, like if it's your special interest, plastic I mean or new industry standards or/and what can be done. Its like I am always complaining about plastic smells from things and in the reviews I don't see anyone else mention it.
