She texted me saying she 'missed me,' but I ended up being the shoulder she cried on for the guy who dumped her.
So, my girlfriend and I broke up because it wasn’t working out. We stopped speaking after the breakup. Four months after the breakup, she texted me saying she was in the city and wanted to catch up casually. I was also missing her, so we met at a restaurant for dinner.
While we were having dinner, we were speaking normally, and I asked her if she was seeing anyone or had any flings. She said no. We had a very normal conversation about what was happening in our lives. Later, we went to her hotel room, and I wanted to stay over. Whenever we meet after a long gap, we usually end up cuddling, sleeping, and having sex because our bodies are used to each other. Once before, we had hooked up in a similar situation, so this time I was expecting the same.
Just before we started having sex, she told me she had hooked up with someone a couple of days earlier and that it didn’t go well. She knows I don’t like hearing such things, but she told me because she feels I am a safe space. It hurt me instantly, but since I was already in the mood, we ended up having sex and then slept.
The next morning, when we woke up, I saw a lot of love bites on her body (I didn’t notice them the previous night because it was dark), and they were from that failed hookup. It hurt me, but I didn’t say anything. I dropped her at the airport, and before leaving, she thanked me a lot for meeting her when she texted, as she wasn’t feeling good.
After a week, I told her not to stay in touch and to maintain boundaries since we have a common friend circle. When she asked why, I said it triggered me when I saw the love bites. She asked why I was bothered about them when we were not together. We had a small argument, and we decided not to stay in touch.
Four months after this, she kept calling me saying she wanted to talk. I asked her why, and she said she didn’t want me to hate her. I asked again why she was texting me, and she said she didn’t want us to be on bad terms. I was skeptical and asked if she was texting me because she had a breakup or a fight with whoever she was seeing. I had no clue about her dating life since I wasn’t in touch with her. She said it was nothing like that and mentioned that someone asked her about a watch I had gifted her, which reminded her of me.
I was still skeptical, but we spoke on the phone. She said she missed me. After speaking for an hour, she said she had broken up with a guy a month earlier, whom she had dated for a month, because her ex came back and she couldn’t handle it.
We thought we would catch up, so that evening we went out for dinner, danced at a music event, came back, cuddled, and slept together in her hotel room. We woke up, cuddled again, and made out. While I was getting ready to leave, she asked me to leave quickly as she also needed to go out for lunch. When I asked with whom, she told me she was meeting the same guy she said she had broken up with.
When I asked why, she said she was meeting him one last time for closure, as she knew he wouldn’t come back and it wouldn’t work out. I felt like it wouldn’t be the last meeting and that they might patch up. I became curious about what was happening between them.
The next morning, I messaged her to meet, and she agreed. When we met, she was behaving as if the breakup had happened just the previous day. She asked me to help her not react to him and was checking her phone every 30 seconds. Since she was like that, I stayed quiet and listened.
Then she showed me their messages, where she was literally begging him for another chance and asking to try the relationship again, while the guy clearly said it wouldn’t work. I stayed with her for the day and took her out since she was feeling terrible. She shared some of the good moments they had together, which hurt me.
The next day, I felt numb, overwhelmed, and angry at and i don't know whats happening to me. its very overwhelming and it hurts in my heart.
