QH Halter Horse
I’ve been trying to get a grasp on the halter horse and hope maybe with a discussion about them and their purpose some of my questions can be answered.
It’s my understanding that the Halter horse is to meet as close to possible the perfect QH as the standard describes. When I look at them I see anything but a beautifully built QH. I see an over muscled, small head, saggy butt, straight legged hind legs, tiny feet and they just don’t remind me of a QH that can be used for anything. Now I am aware not all are built like that and that not all who are are unridable but the ones I see winning seem to fall into that.
What I’m having a hard time grasping is if they are supposed to be the blueprint for the breed how can they differ so much from what we seen in WP, WR, Ranch, ect… ? I also get that each discipline focuses and tweaks certain areas that help in that discipline so a WP horse isn’t going to be built exactly like a barrel horse or a Reiner. But to me the only thing a Halter horse shares with the rest is its name Quarter Horse.
If I’m just not understanding the meaning for them please nicely educate me.
