Is it all downhill from here? [OH]
I’m 35f and an HR Director at a Fortune 500 company. I’m proud of my work and who I am as a colleague and leader, I’ve always felt a sense of pride for the company I work for because I think people generally are engaged, valued, feel heard, and are respected by peers and management. However, lately it’s all so depressing inside my company we have challenging spending pressures because of stagnant growth and fear of the US war impacting the economy. Paired with the daily news of mass layoffs (I cannot comprehend the latest Oracle RIF), it feels like any respect I had for the corporate world is gone. I’m not one who bases my identity on my work but I’m feeling like I no longer want to be part of this world. At the same time, I feel stuck because of the compensation level. Can anyone else relate? Are we waiting it out until things get better? Are we burning down the corporate mentality from the inside and channeling our Handsmaids Tale personas!?
