Choosing Between Sixth Forms: Need Advice

I’m currently deciding between sixth forms and I’m stuck struggling to choose the right institution for me.

I will be moving to the UK this year and want to pursue Dentistry in the future.

The options are:

1. Lancaster Royal Grammar School: Total travel time daily would be approximately 2 hours. Provisions for MDV applicants: Medical Society with ex alumnus and speakers, mock interview, limited UCAT support, not much support with seeking work experience, access to MedicMentor and EPQ provided through a rigorous selection process.

2. Lancaster University School of Mathematics (LUSoM): Daily Travel Time: 35-40 minutes. Provisions for MDV applicants: Medical Society, mock interviews, help with the UCAT and support sessions, support in finding work experience through tutor groups, strong participation and merit records in STEM competitions and Olympiads, ALL students undertake university style project with Lancaster University academics in Year 12 and then pursue similar projects with an option to do EPQ or independent research in Year 13, smaller community (180-260), access to most Cardinal Newman Facilities and opportunities, 2-4 MDV ADMISSIONS, extra subject: Further Mathematics but I like Maths.

3. Clitheroe Royal Grammar School : Daily Travel Time: 2.5 Hours. Provisions for MDV Applicants: Medical Society, application guidance, help in finding work experience, no real UCAT support, EPQ available and mock interviews.

4. Winstanley College: RELOCATION REQUIRED. Provisions for MDV Applicants: Medical Society, UCAT support including access to Practice Platforms, opportunities to build links with medical schools, lab work with University of Liverpool, ‘Operation Diagnosis’ where one is guided through treatment of patients, First aid qualification, help with work experience and CV and preparation for both panel and MMI interviews. Great MDV admissions track record.

5. Cardinal Newman College : Travel-35 minutes. HE\* programme with great provisions for MDV aspirants

Not confirmed yet-

1. Loreto College: Great MDV track record but the specific details are unclear.

2. The Sixth Form Bolton: Great MDV record through special Honours programme with work experience, UCAT, Interviews etc.
