Hope from a chronic worrier, whiner and complainer

Diagnosed Patient or Survivor Support

My story briefly. I was diagnosed Dec 16 stage 2 ER PR + HER2 -. DMX 2/2 with expanders. During recovery I have dealt with infection, delayed healing issues, lymphedema and in general a lot of pain. Today is 9 weeks from DMX and I finally feel like I have moments in my day where I don’t think about the cancer. From diagnosis from DMX it as all I thought about and constantly worried about. For the first week after DMX I was sure things were going horribly wrong and I wasn’t going to heal and someone should just put me out of my misery. I have cried more in the last 4 months than I have cried in my entire life combined. This cancer broke me. And even though I didn’t have to do chemo, I didn’t have to do radiation it was HARD!! There were so many days where I felt so alone because no one in my life knew what I was going through. I had a few survivors in my life but even they had different paths. All of our journeys are individual and sometimes we just Have to get through it. As I sit here and write this I am finally not in pain, I hate these expanders they are terribly uncomfortable but not in pain. I can take a shower and wash my chest without a rush of emotion. I can bend over without wanting to rip these things off my chest, I can stand up and not feel like there are gonna fall to my feet. I have yet to start endocrine therapy and I’m sure I’ll have lots of complaints when I get there but for today I am grateful that I feel better. To anyone at the beginning of your journey or recently out of surgery it gets better I promise!!!
