I used to belittle/dismiss the "passport bro" movemenent (as a male), until I visited a foreign country for a few weeks and was blown away by the difference in attention, warmth, attraction from women vs the US

I used to belittle the "passport bro" movement as men who were so incapable of finding a relatiponship in the US/Europe, that they had to move overseas to find a suitable partner. and that the stereotypes of being the "old IT guy pursuing the 21 year old" were true.

Then I took a solo trip to mexico city for a few weeks and decided to download bumble and hinge. I didn't really change my dating standards versus the US - same age range, wanted a young professional type who had their shit together, needed some good banter before meeting up / chemistry / certain level of attractiveness etc.

holy cow, the difference was INSANE in almost every facet.

  • 2x-3x the matches I had in the US (and I live in a large city)
  • I'd match with way more women that I have found attractive. WAY more.
  • The women were more responsive, more talkative, more consistent. in the US it'be normal for a women to match, chat a few things, then just stop replying. or saying one word messages like "hi" etc. This happened sometimes in mexico, but way rare.
  • I met met up with a few - and these were young professionals - like owned their own places / good careers - and they were so happy to show me around the city / so warm / interesting conversationalists etc. vs the dates I've had in the US, which were definetely more on the awkward side or I sensed like I was being interviewed.

sure, I did see the stereotypical (old white guy with young woman) a few times (gross), but also met plenty of men around my age who had the same experiences I did and was part of the reason why they ultimately decided to move.

So anyone have a similar experience as a man? why is there so much backlash against "passport bro-ing" when it yields such better results for a lot of guys (it seems)?
