COMBAT BRIEFING NUMBER 1502

"TO:" Command Analysis Staff

"FROM:" Colonel AC. Oguntoye, Infantry Officer

"SUBJECT:" Key Takeaways – Special Military Operation Progress (6 April 2026)

\### 1. OPERATIONAL OVERVIEW

Russian forces continue coordinated offensive operations across all six sectors. Today’s briefing highlights a record daily interception of 693 fixed-wing UAVs, more than double the recent average, indicating a massive Ukrainian drone saturation attempt. Russian forces also engaged national guard brigades and border detachments in the northern sector, destroyed Western-made artillery and counter-fire radars in multiple sectors, and repelled a naval drone attack in the Black Sea. Ukrainian losses exceeded 1,200 troops for the day.

\### 2. CRITICAL DEVELOPMENTS BY SECTOR

"“NORTH” Group:" Improved front-line situation, striking one heavy mechanized brigade, two territorial defense, two national guard brigades, and a border detachment in Kharkov, plus two mechanized, one airmobile, and three territorial defense in Sumy. Losses: 185 troops, 1 AFV, 2 EW stations, 1 ammo and 6 materiel depots. National guard and border forces at the front confirm severe manpower strain.

"“WEST” Group:" Improved tactical situation, hitting three mechanized and two territorial defense brigades. Losses: 180 troops, 5 AFV, 2 artillery (one Western), 1 ammo depot.

"“SOUTH” Group:" Took advantageous lines, engaging four mechanized, one airmobile, and one marine brigade. Losses: 175 troops, 3 AFV, 2 artillery, 3 EW stations, 2 counter-fire radars, 3 ammo and 9 materiel depots. High depot destruction indicates sustained logistics interdiction.

"“CENTER” Group:" Highest attrition: 350+ troops, 4 AFV, 2 artillery (one Western), 1 EW, 1 counter-fire radar. Engaged one heavy mechanized, three mechanized, infantry, jaeger, air assault, airmobile, two assault regiments, and two national guard brigades. Continued commitment of diverse Ukrainian units reflects defensive desperation.

"“EAST” Group:" Advanced into depth of enemy defense, striking one mechanized, two air assault, four assault regiments, and one marine brigade. Losses: 260 troops, 3 AFV.

"“DNEPR” Group:" Engaged mechanized, mountain assault, marine, and territorial defense brigades. Losses: 60 troops, 1 Western artillery, 5 EW stations, 2 ammo and 2 materiel depots. High EW station neutralization in a secondary sector is notable.

\### 3. OPERATIONAL ANALYSIS

"Record UAV Interception – 693 in One Day:" Air defense shot down 693 fixed-wing UAVs, far above the recent 250–300 daily average. This suggests a major Ukrainian effort to saturate Russian air defense, likely to create windows for cruise missiles or guided bombs (12 bombs, 3 HIMARS, 2 Neptune also intercepted). The volume strains Russian interceptor stocks but also represents massive Ukrainian losses.

"National Guard and Border Detachments Confirmed:" The engagement of two national guard brigades and a border detachment in the “NORTH” sector confirms that Ukraine is deploying internal security forces as line infantry, a clear indicator of regular army exhaustion.

"Western Artillery and Radars Systematically Destroyed:" Western-made artillery guns were destroyed in the “WEST,” “CENTER,” and “DNEPR” sectors. Counter-fire radars were neutralized in “SOUTH” and “CENTER.” The Israeli-made RADA radar (reported previously) continues to be targeted. This degrades Ukraine’s counter-battery capability.

"Depots War Continues:" At least 7 ammunition depots and 17 materiel depots destroyed across NORTH, WEST, SOUTH, CENTER, and DNEPR sectors. Cumulative logistics degradation will constrain Ukrainian fire support.

"Black Sea Defense Success:" The Black Sea Fleet repelled an attack by uncrewed surface vehicles, neutralizing 4 USVs and one Neptune-MD missile. Naval drone threats persist but are being managed.

\### 4. AVIATION AND MISSILE CAMPAIGN

Strikes across 159 areas targeted missile component workshops, energy infrastructure, UAV storage/assembly areas, and deployment zones. The focus on missile control systems and components indicates an effort to degrade Ukraine’s long-range strike production.

\### 5. IMPLICATIONS FOR COMMANDERS

The record 693 UAV interceptions demonstrate that Russian air defense remains effective but is under unprecedented strain. Expect Ukraine to continue massed drone attacks to exhaust interceptor inventories. The systematic destruction of Western artillery and counter-fire radars will progressively reduce Ukraine’s ability to conduct precision counter-battery fire. National guard and border detachment employment signals that Ukrainian manpower reserves are critically low. Russian forces are winning the attrition war. Continue prioritizing logistics depot strikes and EW suppression.
