Is dropping out of secondary school to pursue being a racing groom a bad idea?

Question

Hi, I’ll try keep this short.

I’m currently 17 and highly thinking of dropping out of 5th year, I’ve never been a school person, like ever something about the environment, bullying, pressure of “the leaving cert being the only way to successful’ never sat right with me.

I currently work part time as a racing groom in a horse racing yard, for only being 17 i still make decent enough money, I do things like muck out,go racing, bandage horses and do necessary care etc, only thing I do not do is ride out, I’ve travelled to England for work and i must say i love it so much, id happily be there all the time and often wish i was working on my days off!

I have a huge passion for animals and it’s really the only thing I’ve enjoyed.

I’m writing this as i need advice to know if dropping out and working full time in the yard is stupid.

Moving full time will enable me to gain even more experience and knowledge to be trusted to do more important jobs, i have my driving test soon and im hoping to be able to drive a 2 box with horses and maybe be travelling head girl with it.

To me i feel like the leaving will do absolutely nothing for me as i have no intention of going to college and the horse industry is quite different to your average job in my opinion.

I know that in reality the leaving probably is the better choice but try see it in a different perspective,

If you need anymore information for a better response feel free to ask! Thank you
