\- **Cast Away**: Tom Hanks' Chuck Noland washes up on a deserted island after a plane crash with assorted packages and debris among which is a white volleyball. After cutting his hand and leaving a bloody handprint on the ball, Noland carves a little face on the handprint and starts talking to the ball he names "Wilson". His conversations with Wilson are an indication of his growing loneliness, a means to keep himself "sane", and a way to give Hanks someone to talk to and deliver exposition naturally. After several years of only having Wilson as company, Noland escapes the island on a raft but eventually Wilson falls off the raft and leading to a gut wrenching scene of Noland having a breakdown for losing his only companion and screaming his apologies to Wilson.
\- **Deadwood**: In the first episode of the series Al Swearengen offers to pay a bounty on any Indian head that is brought to him (to distract from how a group of white robbers he's partnered with did a bad job framing Indians for the robbers' murder of settler family). One guy actually does murder an Indian a few episodes later and brings the severed head to Al for the reward. Al subsequently has the head stored in a box in his office and over time starts to talk to "Chief". He admits to one of his employees that Chief is a prop he uses to discuss things he either vocally can't say out loud to another living person or because most of the living people Al could talk to are too stupid to have meaningful conversations with. Later on the conversations show that Al, a White man who illegally settled on Indian land which led to Chief's murder, shows a small degree of sympathy for Chief and his people due to Al being confused by the casual and illogical cruelties of newcomers to Deadwood ("Watching us advance on your stupid teepee Chief, and knowing you had to make your move ... did you not first just want to fucking understand?")

\- **Invincible**: In the Viltrum Empire's backstory, their current toxic Darwinist mindset that led to them becoming an empire of conquerors was due to the leadership of Emperor Argyll and the example he set for them. After he was assassinated, Grand Regent Thragg was chosen to lead the Empire while the search began for Argyll's heirs. A few times throughout the story Thragg is shown speaking to Argyll's skull which he keeps next to his throne, giving status updates to it and promising vengeance. The skull essentially represents Thragg's devotion to his own mission and the Empire's way of life as Thragg understands it. Its only when he does learn who Argyll's last heirs are (his enemies the Graysons) and other Viltrumites rally to them/their new way of life that we see Thragg abandon his habit of talking to the skull as an indication he's abandoned his previous mission and is more devoted to restoring the Viltrum Empire as Thragg wants it to be and under his command.
